Leonie’s approach
You can expect to get timely support at Leonie’s practice in Launceston or by telehealth. Leonie appreciates the need for early intervention and aims to keep waiting times to a minimum. She enjoys working with clients who are ready for change and are motivated to improve their functioning in everyday life. Leonie offers evidence-based approaches and tailors therapy to each client’s individual needs and goals. She also offers a range of assessments to children and adults in a welcoming and positive environment. Leonie is responsive to referrers and accepts referrals for clients with urgent care needs, Workers Compensation, Employee Assistance Programs, and NDIS participants.
Before starting her own practice in Launceston, Leonie worked in two other group Psychology practices. She has experience as a school psychologist, in the disability sector with clients and their families and carers, in an alcohol and drug service, and in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.
Prior to training as a psychologist Leonie worked as a qualified careers counsellor in universities and elite sport. She has delivered sexuality and relationships education in primary schools, and has been a support worker with victim/survivors of sexual abuse. Leonie has travelled and worked overseas, in tourism, hospitality, medical administration, and teaching English as a second language.
Leonie holds degrees in Business (Human Resource Management and Organisation Behavior), Career Education and Development, and Psychology. She is a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc.
Outside of work, you will find Leonie planning her next skiing trip or beach holiday with friends and family.
